Eric J. Aafedt asks if he is about to lose his Yahoo
listing of two years that he never submitted but "just
magically appeared and has always been in the number
one position".

That's an interesting one. Yahoo have said that the new
annual fee applies to those who submit after 28 December
2001. It's thought that is doesn't apply to earlier paid
submissions for legal reasons.

Yahoo also say in their current Express Service Agreement:
"4.2 Yahoo! also reserves the right, in its sole discretion,
to remove your site from the Directory, ...for any reason..."

So Eric they could take your site out. But will they?

I don't think so at this stage. People use Yahoo because
it provides them with the information they are looking for.
A wholesale stripping down of the commercial part of the
directory to a paid-only "Yellow Pages" model would be
counter-productive for Yahoo. There's too much good
competition out there, eg Google, for them to risk their
"search" reputation.

I'd sit tight but monitor your listing regularly.
