The CPA debate vs. Affiliate Programs
I wasn't tempted to reply to Pesach Lattin's rant about
affiliate programs until I read this sentence: "Let's
make it clear: affiliate programs are not for professional
marketers, or serious websites."
Shhhh! Don't tell my seven employees (one full-time, six
part-time) that. They think their wages come from affiliate
commissions.
Apart from AssociatePrograms.com, I own a site which is purely
affiliate driven and more than pays the wages of the person
who runs it for me. (No, it doesn't sell marketing manuals.)
Or how about AffTrack, which tracks MILLIONS of dollars in
super affiliate commissions every month? I suppose Pesach
thinks that's a myth, or something?

an interview I did recently with Shawn Campbell, who earns
more $5,000 a month in commissions:

I'm so "serious" about affiliate programs that I studied
the industry from about dawn to midnight for years. I've been
earning a full-time living from them since 1998.
The most important thing I've learned is that unsuccessful
affiliates treat affiliate selling as just another form of
advertising. Successful affiliates are more innovative and
creative.
