iBill's new extra charge - and where else to go
Hello everybody,
I just want to warn all of you who are using iBill
to process payment on your sites that they started
adding an extra charge to the billed amount. They
call it "web pledge" - and it's now part of all
purchases. It's an opt-out box, in small print at
the bottom of the "Hello" page (the one where the
customer fills out their credit card info). It's
automatically checked, not very obvious, so most
customers will not even notice they are pledging an
extra $1.00 until they see it on their statement -
along with the original charge, or until they get
the confirmation. iBill added this 'pledge' without
notification to, (not to speak of permissions from)
the site owners.
Personally, I was furious and I think such a practice
is completely unacceptable. I though I would let
blow the whistle, in case some of you are affected
without knowing. I would also like to know if any of
you have experience with other payment processing
companies. We are currently using iBill’s PIN code
system. I will appreciate any suggestions and details
about iBill's competitors.
Regards
Ilona Jerabek
