Looking for software to manage E-mail Campaigns and to generate recipient intellegence

We are an Canadian Interactive Agency with Production
facilities out based in India. Currently we are
managing e-mail campaigns, newsletters etc. for a host
of our Indian and Canadian client. Our current software
is running out of steam in terms of its capability and
capacity and we need to migrate to a new Software /
Outsourced solution.

Does anyone know of sources where I can gain knowledge
about performance of various e-mail management /
Interaction management software? Further, has anyone
conducted a cost benefit analysis between an outsourced
solution and an in-house software based solution?

What are the key parameters that we should be scrutinising?
At what volume of mail / generated revenue is it sensible
to bring a solution in house or to outsource? What tools
are available to analyse the development of online
relationships?
