Re: Ideas for Online Book Promotion
We have done several hundred online book promotional
campaigns. There are four types of promotions that
you may find of value:
1. Select an excerpt and create an HTML page with
artwork, author photos, etc. Then promote the
excerpt to the target audience online, including
Usenet newsgroups, Internet Mailing Lists,
America Online and Compuserve.
2. Promote your book to the media by e-mail, soliciting
requests for review copies and interviews.
3. Take the book author out on an "online chat tour"
to chat venues on high-traffic web sites and on
America Online. The promotion of the chat may
often provide even greater publicity for the book
than the actual chat event itself.
4. Many high-traffic web sites now have bookstores
that are branches of Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble
Online. Pprepare a variety of display materials
from your book: everything from a button logo to a
fully-illustrated web excerpt, and pitch these to
affiliate sites for the best possible placements
for your book. This is a great way to get a feature
about your book in front of your target audience in
a hurry.
