That is a question that many companies are looking for
answers to. As a retailer, with an Email Marketing
division, I can tell you that it is not dead, it is
changing dramatically though. The days of paying $50 -
$100 CPM are over. With the right contacts you can
find good lists that convert well, and only pay maybe
$5 - $10 CPM, and get the same results. At those kinds
of prices it makes more business sense to send more
mail, and in turn maybe not increase your success rate
percentage, but that percentage will equal more
inquiries or sales for amount spent. The retail side
of our company, which is the core of the company, has
succeeded on pure email marketing. We did not do any
of the traditional means of marketing, and still found
ourselves growing at an astonishing rate.
 
To make a long story short. Email Marketing is not dead,
you just have to do more research and locate cheaper
rates. This allows you to maximize your acquisitions.
