Re: Email (aka. SPAM) Marketing
Hello Michael,
I recently have looked at spam control mechanisms, as I
have a child and do not want her to be harrassed online.
One of the methods that seemed popular is giving the
parent an "over-riding" super administrative feature on
the email account that allows them to add and remove email
addresses that can be written to or that can write to the
child.
The first time I came across this method of control was on
my client's site www.kidzownclub.com, however, various
encryption companies such as Hush mail and other firms
have similar ideas. Do you think that the plug-in is going
to be a "big brother" modular software concept? It seems
to be moving this direction on a corporate level. This
means as an advertiser, you would virtually need the
approval of the "corporation" and the "individual" to
opt-in. This seems ethical, as your time is their money
as an employee. However, this means as an advertiser, you
probably will be looking at endless lists of AOL and
Hotmail accounts that have "full inboxes" rather than
corporate decision makers that continiously check their
email. The increase in corporate control of
mail will have a detrimental effect on email marketing.
Sincerely,
