pay for performance search engine

I have a few questions on search engine and use of pay for performance:

1) Overture has shown itself to be a profitable business model. Do you
think that its success is highly dependent on its ability to maintain
partnerships with key portals such as AOL (which Overture claims it
doesn't)? As an advertiser, I want to make sure that I'm getting my return
on investment so how can I be assured that spending money on Overture is
worth it vs. spending on SEO or buying adwords on Google?

2) Has anyone used Teoma since it was released recently? What's your
opinion on how Teoma will affect the search engine landscape? As an
advertiser with a tight budget, do you think a media buy with Teoma is a
good opportunity?

Thanks,

Christine
