Finally something to really talk about. Unfortunately we
have already been down this road...it is the same worn out
cpa vs. cpm argument "in sheeps clothes." You will never
truly understand advertising until you become a big company.
Little companies don't understand how advertising works.
They think that if you throw up an ad and no one buys the
product then it was a wasted ad. I totally disagree. I
have never bought condoms, never even used one. But one day
I will probably use them...but if no condom companies ever
advertised unless they got a sale, HOW ON EARTH WOULD TROJANS
BE MORE ABOUT LATEX THAN FOOTBALL??????? The problem with
the Internet is that it is a two-edged sword. Any idiot with
a crappy product can put up a website and sell his goods. If
people see his ad and click through but don't buy the product
...that isn't the publisher's fault. His product sucks.
Period.
Unfortunately there are a lot of people in the advertising
world that have no common business sense. Until that is the
rule of the day, we will always have these blithering idiots
talking about how unless someone buys my product immediately
after they see my ad, then it was a waste of money.
That is my $0.02...but it should be worth millions.
