You bet:

On my site, I have subscriptions and services for credit card sale
that don't require a shopping cart. There's simply a script that
allows people to click and pay for the subscription, ad or reserve a
phone call session.

The new series of e-books, however, represent a different problem:

1. Someone may want too make multiple purchases of different e-books.
2. I need a reliable method of automatically taking the payment and
then authorizing the download.

This stuff requires a shopping cart.

The problem arises when your credit card clearing house has an
existing relationship with your shopping cart. In Authorize.net's
case, they have a direct relationship with 1shoppingcart.com, for
security purposes. For my scripts, I can use a referring URL to
authorize the credit card purchase. But with this new system,
specifying the referral URL actually blocks out the 1shoppingcart
purchases.

The solution is for Authroize.net to issue two accounts: one for
your shopping cart company and one for your referring URL's. You
shopping cart company should have a set up pref that allows you to
register your credit card clearer's log-in and password.

That should do it.
