" Is there anybody out there who specialises in brokering ad sales and
sponsorships for individual sites/networks? The majors' attitudes to 'high
traffic, low CPM, CPC etc' is not suited to the brand which we are
developing, and we are more interested in sourcing advertising ourselves.
However, without setting up a sales force etc what are our options? Steve
Hunt"
First of all, you aren't looking for a "broker" -- an ad broker is a guy who
generally takes your inventory, and then marks it up and tries to sell it at
the highest possible price, taking the profit for himself. You also risk
never getting paid by these guys.
Secondly, everyone out there who owes a website thinks that the attitude to
"low cpm, cpc etc" isn't for their site. Join the club, everyone wants
higher CPM! You have two options here -- either you take the low CPM, CPC
etc, or you get paid nothing. There isn't a third option for you, and if
anyone tells you otherwise, they are retarded. The only people who get
anything arte the "majors" as you put it, as everyone else is out of
business.
Take what you can get, work with it, and maybe you will get more. Don't fool
yourself that you're gonna do otherwise.
