Updating URLs on SE

I am working with a client who owns three domains and has existing sites
on those. Those URLs have already been submitted to search engines. We
are going to re-design the sites and work on the metatags etc. Since we
are using the same URLS, 1)what process should I be following to update
them on SEs, 2) is it realistic to expect that SE will give us a second
look, and 3)if they will look at us again, what is the timeline for
having them evaluate and make changes?
