No, not multiple counting, more likely no counting at all.
The email is actually read in the preview pane. The purpose of the preview
pane is to allow mail to be read without being formally opened. I'm not
real knowledgeable on Eudora, but I believe it is a text only email reader
which clears HTML source from a message or displays it as plain text.
I base my comments on the PMMail reader I am using which offers a
preview pane.
