I do not know how these monitoring systems may work, but it is possible to
exclude multiple counting by filtering on the basis of the IP address: that
is, one can count only one hit each time two hits from the same IP occur
within a few seconds/minutes time-interval. Similar IPs to the one
registered could indicate that the email has been passed to colleagues.
