Re: Dealing with Spam

In response to an eMail from Deborah

<snip>
I realize spam is a dirty word to many of you die-hard e-mail marketers,
but I get way too much of it and I'm afraid to open it, even with virus
protection. Therefore, I can't tell the sender, even if they give you
an option, to take me off their list.

I block them all, but all that does is move them from one part of my
message software to another.

Is there (gulp, forgive me) any software out there that will bounce back
these porn, mortgage, loan and stock sales ads back to to the sender and
show me as a "unadressable e-mail" so I can get off these lists?
<snip>

Deborah,

What you can do is.
Create a new email address (deb_at_the-beach.net) and tell only those
people who you want to receive email from to have it. Yes this is a nuisance
but not half as bad as having to deal with the INCREASING spam you seem
to be getting.

Now make sure you can create a new email address with your ISP, and make
sure you only receive email from this address and not have the option on
where you receive bad email address that also go to your domain host. So
you would not receive email for debdat_at_the-beach.net, some ISP have an
option to let these miss spellings through, you don't want this to happen.

Then on your web site create an email message form, this will have to
be cgi so no one can get your email address.

I know what you are going through and I am going to set this up for myself.
You are probably like me and put it off, but you will have to do this when the
pain gets to much.

Also, if you own you domain name, make sure you change it their before
deleting the old email address, or you may find it difficult convincing your
domain management that you are who you say you are.

Personally, I think every one is going to do this before long.

Also, you might want to create a hotmail account for things like
participating in newsletter etc. And another account for submitting
web sites to search engines.

Warmest Regards
