I agree, from a consumer's point of view. I don't use popups in my
marketing so I can't comment on that. Since popups are so annoying to
begin with, I don't think it's necessary to provide a fake cancel button
-- that's just rude. If people want to click on your ad, they will.
You're getting unqualified leads from those that are sucked in by the
"X" -- why would an advertiser want that anyway? When will people catch
on to the fact that it's quality, not quantity, that brings in business.

On the other hand, by now people should be so used to these stupid
things to know that there's a way around them. There are freeware
programs that will block popups in the first place. Now, I just have to
find one to block popUNDERS.
