Pitching o-a.com list members
I recently received a note from one of the posters on this
list indicating that their contribution on one of our topics
had resulted in sales calls from a couple of the companies
being discussed. The individual did not include a phone
number with their posts, but the sales people managed to
find the person anyway! Worse, the callers did not even
know where the lead had come from!
Please remember that this list is a professional forum for
the discussion of online advertising, and not a source for
harvesting sales leads or email addresses. If someone posts
an explicit question asking for information on a particular
topic or service which your company provides, then it is
reasonable to reply to them with relevant information if it
was explicitly requested. But just hitting on someone because
that have made a post is by itself not a valid reason to
contact them.
Please remember that the most of the poster's on this list
tend to be intelligent and sophisticated people, and sending
them spam or an uninformed or out of context sales call only
proves that one is not sophisticated enough to know how to
make a sale and act in a professional manner. It is also
grounds for immediate removal from membership on this list.
