Accepted the web has metamorphosed to become a niche media
vehicle, and as I call it the "Wide Wicked Web"!!, nevertheless
what's so sacrosanct about this media ( much as I love it) as
let's say compared to conventional media like tv and radio when it
comes to revenue generation ( read survival) and annoying
advertising to its consumers?
Lets be Realists .. and admit .. that like the other media the
web has to be powered by an revenue model ... and that's
advertising. And it is growing exponentially than any media in
the last hundred years.
Like we learn to live with the commercials, we will have to with
rich media
and pop ups and mouse overs too.
And don't we all online marketers and believers know too well
that this medium is one on one , anytime anywhere and highly
clustered. Thats what we are buying online advertising for our
clients for in the first place.
Email spam is a very serious issue which we ought to look at ...
and could well kill the golden goose.
Here I feel that stricter laws .. maybe transnational should be
formulated and implemented and could be that we boycott the
product or service
using this method.
Me thinks we have a long way to go in terms of online
advertising and much improvements are on the chips because down
the line this is the medium the worlds gonna buy from.
Looking forward to your views on this.
Regards,
