Re: Ok I did it...but, now..more problems HELP!
Hello, Lynda,
I am far from an SEO expert, but I have been reading up on the subject quite
a bit, and I think I see a couple of mistakes you have been making. If I
have understood something incorrectly with my information, please feel free
to correct me.
For one thing, I believe that sites created solely to link back to your main
site are called doorway pages, and are generally considered spam (or at
least ignored) by the search engines. To get links to your site that bear
results, you should think of some other sites where your target audience
might be, and try to get links from them. A link exchange is one possible
way to do this. There are probably many other sites which cater to common
interests of your target audience who are also trying to get better known,
and sharing traffic between the two can have some nice direct results, as
well as boosting your presence in the search engines.
Also, taking a look at your meta tags, you seem to have confused the
"description" tag with the "keywords" tag. The description tag is what
people see, for instance, on Yahoo, where each link returned has a small
description of the site. When you have a long list of words, the site won't
look very attractive to people who see it on Yahoo's list, these should go
under the "keywords" tag instead, and description should be something human
friendly like, "The best prices on unique gift items for any occasion" or
whatever your marketing line is.
