Re: Your take on the new IAB Standards

Brian,

You need to build your software to be extendable for other (read that
'new' or 'future') growth in the IAB standards, or even non-IAB
standard sizes, as not all sites will adopt the new sizes quickly (even
the IAB says that) and some will still offer old non-standard sizes as
they always have... to appeal to the broadest customer base you need to
satisfy the lowest common denominator... that being said, don't be
afraid to only offer IAB standard sizes through your tool, but be ready
to hear a lot of 'no thanks' on the sales end when you tell people that
you don't support whatever custom ad size they're offering as a
publisher or buying as a media buyer.

My last sales job included a 260x56 ad size that worked wonderfully
well for some clients even though I personally hated the size. I
couldn't argue to kill it from the site as a sales person as long as it
was adding to my bottom line, could I?

Best of luck...

John
