You can say that again. As a volunteer project, I run a web site for a
501c3 nonprofit organization here. We're offering $20 ads...$20!!!! to our
vendors and customers to commemorate our organization's 25th anniversary,
and we still can't get people to advertise on our site. That's for an ad
that will run for three months on every single page view of our site.
People just are not interested in the Internet as their first choice of
advertising. I think we can partially thank the comparatively greater
effectiveness of direct marketing for the lack of interest. At least in our
case, they are more interested in spending their money on our print ads in
the quarterly newsletter because it actually goes out to our members'
mailboxes. And they pay upwards of $150 quarterly for those. And at least
$60 for just a business card size ad. It's very frustrating.
