I believe the default for Outlook express is html email (graphic). I would
think the effectivness would depend on your market. in general I would say
the higher the "geek" quotient is on your list the less effective it would
be. Most of the computer lists I am on discurage (if not ban) html emails
for a couple reasones.

1) html email is not very readable on text only email programs (pine, mutt,
outlook with the default changed)
2) a lot of outlook viruses and spyware bugs are spread via html email
3) it takes longer to download all that extra formating and graphics (not so
much an issue for those with broadband, or fast modem connections, but there
are those that still have slower connections)
