Christmas sales

This time last year my site was booming with sales. Christmas was so big
that I worried that I won't have enough inventory. This year the site
receives twice as much traffic and was getting major sales up to the end
of October. I was expecting this Christmas to be huge. However, when
George Bush announced the possibility of war with Iraq, the sales
stopped. I deal in high end art and this is the type of product to
suffer the loss in sales when the economy is weak. It is almost
unbelievable to me that my site has received no Christmas sales. I was
wondering if others have seen sales drop this year. If not, what do you
do to maintain sales?
