Re: Problems for small sites
<snip> What's the solution for these small sites? </snip>
This is an interesting question and for my 2p (c) worth I will try and
translate into a few words.
The small sites genarally have the following problems:-
A) Small sites generally do not have the capital to pay for the ad costs.
B) Sites are not updated from initial build
C) e-commerce is not made simple enough for them to understand
D) Due to some ignorance small sites are paying way over the top for poor
website work and having a bad experience with their developers mainly
because they are using stalling tactics as a bigger and more bucks to me
website build has to be built. This leads to B.
E) SEO, blogs etc send clients to sleep.
F) Not enough SME freelance IT advisors available to work on a daily rate
(i'd love to do this)
G) They outsource most IT requirements usually to multi-suppliers!
Solution (?)
Businesses should unite (possibly by type of service or product) in groups
of say 10, they should share resources and experiences, mailing lists, group
purchases, recommendations and IT support and advice etc.
If only The Chambers of Commerce had the inclination to encourage this sort
of "grouping" rather than their "pay your fee and we will invite you to lots
of breakfast conferences with the same old people and you can use our
logo........" stance, small businesses could get on the ladder to better
things.
