DMOZ (Open Directory Project)
Hi Richard,
There is no "work around" for DMOZ.
You simply get listed. There is no charge.
We successfully listed our site on Jan 1.
http://www.dmoz.pl/
With dmoz you have to submit from the proper directory. Like Yahoo. (And in
case some of you don't know it yet, it no longer costs money to get listed
on yahoo. Just keep going to get past all their "we want some money from
you offers" and get to the free submission. Very easy.)
(back to DMOZ)
Ignore the add url from the main page. it dosen't seem to be working right
now and it only explains what to do which I'm telling you here.
Drill down to the place where you want to be listed, and click on add url
from there. Don't be in a rush, keep drilling down until you are where you
want your site to be listed. Have several browsers going so that you can
keep track of the directories/listings you have looked at...then choose
Here is what we received as confirmation from DMOZ:
Your site submission has been received.
http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/add.cgi?where=Shopping/Publications/Digital/Business
An editor will review your submission for inclusion in the directory.
Once your site has been accepted into the Open Directory, it may take
anywhere from 2 weeks to several months for your site to be listed on
partner sites which use the Open Directory data, such as AOL Search,
AltaVista, HotBot, Google, Lycos, Netscape Search, etc. We make updates of
the data available weekly, but each partner has their own update schedule.
Best of luck, Laurette and Marilyn
