Keywords registered with IGN

Many thanks to those who provided input to my concerns over Keywords
registered with IGN. Dave Mata: I am getting similar quotes from various
IGN sales people, only to find out that IGN is "planning" on purchasing a
e-mailing list so they can hopefully get 8 million people to install the
plug-in. It appears that registerd keyword search from the URL bar is a
concept abondoned by MSN. IGN has been able to convince a lot of companies
that $5,000/year to register keywords with them works. It doesn't. The
tracking we've done has not demonstrated even a single person is using the
plug in (at least for the 20+ keywords my client has registered. Beware of
things that sound too good to be true. There are no magic beans that can
grow traffic to your site. Promoting a site takes a lot of effort and in
many directions - you never know what will work until you try. And that is
what this forum is about - sharing what works...and what doesn't. Thanks.
