Search Engine Advertising News

Hello O-A,

Overture and Lycos have just come out with some news that we should all
be interested in.

Overture has raised their minimum search term listing click bid to $.10!
The minimum listing was $.05 and there will be a grandfather clause
intact for those who had bids that fell under the $.10 mark. Apparently
they have already raised the bidding price in the UK and it has proven
to have been successful.

Check out the minimum bid news here:

Lycos has automated their text based ad units (very similar to Google's
AdWords), the Lycos InSite AdBuyer program. Such units appear on sites
like Lycos search, HotBot search, Tripod, Angelfire, and Gamesville. For
more information click here =
http://insite.lycos.com/searchservices/adbuyer/overview.asp

Minimum bids on Lycos start at $.05 and the account minimum begins at
$50.

With Google, Lycos, About, Overture, and other popular advertising
channels such as Advertising.com switching over to user friendly
automated service (like Advertising.com's adVariant), is this giving ad
reps more time to devote to larger campaigns and making it easier for
marketing planners to put together an integrated ROI campaign without
dealing with ad reps?

How do media planners and buyers feel about this? The automated robot
vs. the ad rep?

I'm interested in hearing everyone's thoughts.

Thank you,
Loren Baker
