Is Overture Overtaking the Web??

It has come to my awareness that in the past week that Overture is in
the process of purchasing two of the web's premier search engines;
AltaVista and FAST.

Here is an article on FAST
http://www.internetnews.com/IAR/article.php/10789_1598601

Industry analysts are sating that this is not only a trend for Overture
to acquire search technology and use such sites as incubators for new
Overture ad technology, but many see it as a defensive move against MSN,
which was interested in the acquisition of FAST/AlltheWeb.

How do you think the latest Overture/Yahoo/MSN takeovers will effect not
only the world of advertising, but the Internet as a whole. Are these
companies the robberbarons of old or simply the result of sound business
plans and web profitability after the bubble burst?

Speaking for myself, I couldn't believe it when GoTo (now Overture) came
out with paid listings. And then *BOOM* paid listings and ROI changed
the world of advertising (not just OA) .

Any thoughts? We would love to hear your feedback on O-A or simply post
on http://www.webadvantage.net/contact_feedback.cfm

We may have a marketing tip coming out on this subject and could use
your opinions.

Thanks,
Loren Baker
