Email program

I have a news site that provides balance to articles found in the print
media by adding commentary and links to think tank articles that expand on
the print articles. I've found there is a lot of competition in the news
business, but yet I feel that the concept has a lot of merit. I've tried
numerous attempts to build traffic without tremendous success.

It seems that a number of news sites use email as a push mechanism. For
example, the NY Times sends out a daily email that gives several main
headlines so that a reader can click on the headline to read the actual
article. I think this may be more successful than just trying to get repeat
readers.

Can anyone recommend an "off-the-shelf" email program that would allow
sending out a daily page with links to my actual site? Thanks in advance.
