One thing to be careful about is opting out is rather than opt-in is frowned
on. Putting a lot of names you collected at trade shows on a mailing list
could get your list banned by spam control services if enough people
complain. A better option may be to send individual one time emails (spread
out and done as followups) or better yet, send direct mail and invite people
to go to your web site to sign up for your newsletter. It will cut down on
the number of names, but also cut down on the risk of having all mail from
you banned as spam (or getting your account closed by your isp.)

Take a look at eNewsletterPro - http://www.enewsletterpro.com/. That has
most of the features anyone running a mailing list would want.
