Armando is both right and wrong. Affiliate programs don't work well if you
simply use them to fill ad space. But no successful publisher ever does,
unless it's just to fill unsold, remnant inventory.

The successful publishers are using, for example, text links and small
images embedded within appropriate content and generating large equivalent
cpms as a result. Certainly not a waste of time.

(I can cite examples from my own experience with month-on-month site-wide
cpms of over US$50 from just two text links on each page).

Affiliate programs are not a simple
put-a-banner-in-the-rotation-and-cash-the-check option, which is why the
vast majority of publishers using them make nothing from them.
