I recently started generating my own statistics
from the scratch logfile, using SPSS. I have decided to do so rather
than adopting a pre-packaged software because I believe that an highly
customised logfile analysis tool can represent an important assets to
web site managers. Since my getting involved within this sort of
business in 1999 I have found that basic web site statics become soon
weary and often do not provide really actionable information. On the
contrary, by starting with defining web information needs with my
customers I can customize the SPSS scripts that I have prepared to
deliver better value for an fair amout money.
