Re: Bounce rates

Hi Alana,

Your bounce rate of 72.5% is a little high. I am working with a site right
now that receives about 18,000 visitors per month and our rate for 0-1 pages
(combined) is less than half of yours.

There are a couple of things I would recommend right away, although there
are many things that could be done with your site.
1) I can't figure out who the USA Dental Directory is - I don't see an
'about us' page or any information that would lead me to trust your web site
wholeheartedly. Users need specific, detailed information about your
organization in order to view your organization as an authority or even as a
credible source..
2) The insurance information for your dentists is not listed. I imagine that
piece of information (being able to match a dentist with the insurance plan
a user has) would be very helpful
3) I would create a User Only page instead of trying to have the dentists
sign up through the same home page as the regular user. Users are very
self-centric and want the pages they see geared specifically for them.
4) Who are "applied future technology consultants of Denver Colorado" and
why do they have the copyright to the content of your home page?

Overall, your page needs a more congruent flow of information and a more
consistent message so that users will view your organization as experts in
dentistry and in helping them find reputable dentists in their area. I
imagine some of your users are a little afraid right now that they will be
"cookie-ified" and will receive lots of spam mail if they disclose any
information about themselves. Also, since there doesn't seem to be any
screening process for the dentists who are included in their site, how will
users be assured of finding a 'real' dentist who does a good job?

Just my two cents' worth...
