Hello O-A!
I've noticed that recently more and more downloads are
offering sponsorships and advertising.
For example RealPlayer delivers its Message Center on
its free download upon exiting the player. The Message
Center promotes other downloads.
Yahoo's companion toolbar offers high profile ads next
to its search box and UCmore <http://www.ucmore.com>
offers sponsored links in its relevant site
categorical listings.
AWS's WeatherBug
<http://www.weatherbug.com/advertise/index.asp>
offers a completely branded downloadable weather
service.
Do you think that advertising in downloads reaches a
good random sample of the Internet audience, or
instead reaches the niche educated user whom is
experienced in downloading such applications?
What downloads have you advertised in and gained
success?
On the otherhand, which downloads have shown no or
little response to advertisements?
Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Loren Baker
