One of the best ways to get people to give information about
themselves is to offer them something for free in exchange
for the information.

Many websites give out free e-books in exchange for giving email
address and name. Of course, writing up an e-book can be very
time consuming and unless your topic is really unique, the web
is overstuffed with them.

Another option is giving a free promotional gift - the same way
that traditional companies give free promotional gifts in
exchange for filling out a form, etc.
