Diane, I took a quick look at your site. If it was me I would spend the
first $20 of your first month's budget on joining www.netbreakthroughs.com.
This site contains an Ad Diary section where a couple years worth of
ad buys are discussed in plain English. A lot of the advertising sources
the author used would also be relevant for your site.
2nd, if you haven't already, I would put some mechanism in place that
will allow you to measure the effectiveness of whatever advertising
you wind up doing. If for example you spend $100 on an ezine ad
you want to know what you earned in profit as a result of that ad.
Before you start spending a lot of money try to put yourself in
a position where you will know what advertising worked, and what
didn't.
How much you have to spend each month is less the issue than
what you know, and can learn from experience. As example, suppose
you spend your $200 budget on an ad and you earn $300 in profit as a result.
In that happy case you wouldn't need to wait until the beginning of
the next month to advertise again, would you?
Best of luck!
Phil
