Re: New version of Outlook to block webserved graphics?
Don't advertise to AOL clients anymore if they are that big of a
problem, don't accept AOL entries into your mail forms...etc. It's AOL's
domain, they can do what they want...so can you... service providers and
companies can also deem their emails useless by not allowing AOL users
to join newsletters or buy products online with an "AOL" address. Until
AOL comes up with another solution, that is the best one I can give you.
I know that firms I have worked with do not accept Yahoo or Hotmail due
to the level of fraud associated to the addresses. If you own
astrologysource.com, wouldn't you like to be able to do whatever you
want with your company, domain, software...What you choose may be better
for you, and not the rest of the world, but it is your choice. I really
can't get mad at AOL because I understand their position, even if it is
hypocritical of them...damn spammers they are. 1998-2000 they spammed
everyone on the planet twice a day, and junk mailed those little
envelopes with a disc monthly. AOL was the annoying email before the
"special man herb" craze. Sure that makes me mad, but I can't get mad at
them for trying to stop it now...because unfortunately stopping spam and
protecting "their" clients on "their" domain makes sense. What makes
sense often has a way of happening over time, I would be more apt to
choose not to accept their user email addresses. Sure they make-up a
large percentage of the internet, but if you can't reach them..too bad
for them...I am not going to "collect their undeliverables" and frauds.
I will not accept them. It's very easy for your developer to program
your website not to accept them, ask them next time you talk to them. As
for legitimate advertising...maybe it is no longer legitimate if you are
sending it to AOL...if it's not going to get delivered it is not
marketing. I personally would ask an opt-in firm to please filter out
all AOL and Hotmail accounts if you are going to charge me more than
$0.01 an email. ;)
