Re: State "no e-mail" lists
When I checked my e-mail yesterday morning there was Spam. One of them had
the subject "Save $$$$ on you mortgage". I simply deleted it. That afternoon, I
get my "snail mail" and there is a piece of junk mail from a mortgage
company. I simply tossed it in the trash. While having dinner that evening I received
a phone call from a telephone solicitor wanting to help me save money on my
mortgage. I simply hung up.
In the example above, all three are legitimate businesses trying to market
their product/services. Since I paid off my mortgage five years ago all three
marketers have sent something I don't need and don't want, but have to deal
with.
With Spam, I can delete ten messages in two seconds. With Telemarketers, I
can hang up in a matters of seconds. Both of these waste my time. Junk mail
wastes paper as well as my time, yet pays a significant portion of our postal
budget every year.
With the anti Spam laws and National "Do Not Call" list, I wondered what
makes junk mail acceptable while the others aren't, other than the fact that the
US Gov. makes money off junk mail.
Junk mail is Spam through the postal system. Telephone solicitors are
distributing Spam over the telephone. Spam is sending junk mail electronically. Why
is junk mail is an acceptable form of marketing, shouldn't Spam and telephone
solicitation be as well?
Any thoughts?
