I am not from the advertising industry either
but I enjoy exchanging views with other like-
minded people here. The information given here
by others like are sometimes worth their gold!
Ok, maybe I am over-exergerrating.
About the question you asked...banners & link
exchanges. What I do know is that the
468 by 60 pixels banner is quite "dead"...no
longer fashionable or effective. Most people
have programmed themselves to ignore those
banners. I would not recommend using banners
of that size unless they grace the top or the
bottom of your site (just one banner atop and/
or another below) or unless they are very
interactive.
Have you seen pages with nothing but 468 x 60
banners, one below the other? I feel that
looks kinda wierd.
There's no hard and fast rules for banner or
links exchange but it's usual for sites in
common to be in a links exchange "ring".
If you're expecting a very long list of
links to be exchanged, then it's better to have
your links page on a seperate web page other
than on the homepage. If your links are a few,
you can have all the exchanged links on your
homepage.
I heard micro-ads work the best now. They're
squarish buttons that sits, usually on the side
of your web page. So if you can, encourage
other webmasters to submit buttons of that size.
Text links may work equally well, if not better
than micro-ads.
Check out http://www.links4trade.com to find
sites you wish to link with. Free registration
also allows other webmasters to find your site
and request for a link exchange. You either
accept or decline the request. Very simple
online service to use.
