i'm a designer, i use flash only when the client wants it and i
can't provide an option using html with embedded shiney spinny bits (as we
know even java/dhtml messes with the spiders head).
of course, if you simply MUST use flash it helps if you have the site
(entirely built in flash) in a html 'frame' (with the correct meta tags and
robot mapping information of course), and what i will try to do (at a
greater labor costing to me, but a better feel good factor) is break down
the site into the various 'sections' and have each reload the entire page
(not just the flash content), therefore allowing a new set of meta tags,
robot mapping information, and entry points to the site.
of course, another option is to provide a flash/none flash version of the
site, but i won't do that for free, and when the client has flash in his
head (because his 13 year old son/cousin has told him it's the coolest/
hippest thing ever), it seems to be all they want, go figure...
anyway, that was my 2 cents ;)
