Value of Yahoo! Directory Listing?

As a long time reader of the digest, I am finally completing
the finishing touches of my website, a small retail site
selling Murano glass, and preparing to go live. I am
interested in submitting it to Yahoo! but am unsure of the
benefit of paying the $299 reoccurring yearly fee on a limited
budget. From my understanding it only puts you into their
directory, and does not have any bearing on your placement
when some searches for the term Murano glass. My question is,
does anyone use the directory of Yahoo anymore? Everyone I
have asked really uses it for the search engine, not the
directory. Is it worth the reoccurring fee? To me the
directory seems like something that was used in the earlier
days of the Internet, but now the function has been taken
over by search engines; but am uncertain if I am missing
something from the bigger picture.
