Hi Robert,
I don't participate much on this list, I am mostly a lurker and learner,
BUT....
I did visit your cutlery site and can see several reasons why your site
dropped in the listings after the Google change.
I am not an "expert" but I did "not" lose my listings and even moved up
to the number one spot for some keywords and I'm not a .gov, or a .org,
or a directory. I am site providing resources and membership for women
in business.
My key phrases and my positions on Google:
business grants for women #1 spot
women in business #4 spot
business women #8 spot
women (one word) #26 out of 122 million results
women helping women #3 spot
daily planner #1 spot
free daily planner #1 spot
If you want some helpful tips, let me know as I saw quite a few things
you could do to get back to the top. They are not "tricks" at all, they
are just better "search engine friendly" techniques that I have learned
on my own through trial and error over the last 5 years.
Again, I am "not" an SEO expert. I am someone who "simply" tried several
different "legal" methods of optimizing pages to best produce results to
get the right visitors to my site.
I would be happy to share those tips with you for your cutlery site.
