What are the methods of getting sponsors for a game site?

Recently, I suggested to a friend who owns an online game site, to hold
a closed-door lucky draw, to draw 3 to 5 interested companies (out of
all those who expressed interest in sponsoring the gaming site). The
lucky drawees will then only sponsor prizes for the online games
(designed free for them). The rest of those who weren't drawn will be
approached for "Service Plan B" sponsoring alternatives.

I would like to know, if there are any other ways of attracting
potential sponsors (for the game and/or prizes) to a gaming site. The
site operates in this way, example the person with the highest score by
a certain deadline for online chess wins attractive prizes and it's free
for members to play at the moment.

Any ideas and advice will be appreciated. :)
