Hello,
First, just to make sure you realize this, by "visitors" they simply
mean "popunder ads". So, essentially, you're just paying up to $4 for
"targeted" popup ads.
The negative to buying through sites like these is you have no idea
where your ad will appear. Often they have a network of publishers,
some of whom don't feel obligated to actually deliver traffic in the
promised manner... some will instead load your page as a 1x1 pixel
image -- counts as a visitor in your stats, but nobody ever sees your
page.
You'd probably be better off purchasing popup/popunder ads from a
network that doesn't hide who their publishers are, and doesn't sell
their pops as "visitors".
If you do decide to buy popups remember:
1 - what counts as a delivered visitor/popup? Showing the code?
When your homepage loads?
2 - How are they delivered (what will your popup look like; will it
have scroll bars, what size, etc)
3 - Where are the popups coming from? Are they attached to a
website, or to spyware/junkware/adware? Popups in browsers can be
annoying, but if you're advertising via spyware, with or without
knowing it, expect a lot of people to lose a lot of respect for your
company.
4 - What kind of sites are they appearing on?
5 - What kind of fraud protection is implemented?
6 - How 'noticable' are your ads? Will they appear in the
background? If the user gets delivered two ads from the same company,
do they open separately? I've seen companies that use the same window
name -- meaning the page would be refreshed with a new ad, even if
your ad was never seen or closed, if they get delivered a new ad.
7 - What kind of frequency cap is there? How fast or slow are you
ads delivered?
8 - How many ads does a user see? Both in the aspect of are they
bombed with popups (5 at a time) and per session (if they see popup
after popup, they are less affective. If the company serves only one
popup per session, you'll get much better results).
9 - Is a visitor a visitor? Can the same person see your ad 6 times
in a row? That's a waste of cash.
Those are just a few questions you should ask off the top of my head
-- there's probably more.
