It probably depends on the industry and on what your site can deliver.
These numbers are not far off for a site like ours, but for friends I
have that are more on the consumer side of things - the campaign spends
tend to be lower. Perhaps because their CPM is quite a bit (as much as
10X) lower and they don't have enough additional inventory to make up
the difference. I've found that advertisers really don't want to
dominate your site. They want impressions, but not wasted ones. So
they may limit their spend to a given percentage of your inventory.
Our advertisers include just about every well-known software company out
there. We have had campaign totals as high as the numbers above. We've
also had the largest software companies in the world spend less than
$10K/mo - even through large agency buys. Smaller software companies
often spend more in the range of $5-10K month, partly due to the size of
their budget - but also because they can only handle so much lead volume
at once.
