Internet ad sales

I am a founder and current part-time employee of Chattanoogan.com, a
completely online newspaper organized in 1999 by several Chattanooga
journalists.

We have grown slowly and painfully over the last four years but now have
established ourselves as the leading site for breaking news in this
area. We get over 10,000 individual reader sessions per day. However,
our ads have been mainly from businesses contacting us because we have
been unable to find a professional ad salesperson. Also, we are
concerned that eventually we will reach a limit on the number of
front-page rotating ads we can effectively use.

Does anyone have any research info on just how many rotating ads a
website can effectively use on its front page or any page for that
matter. Also, we have heard of one company that will pay websites a
commission on sales or visits from their readers. Do you have any
