Commision-based Affiliate Programs

Hello,

One company has been offered an arrangement in which we would buy affiliate
software and then pay commission to a site for the business it brings us.

We definitely have some hesitance, and since it's mostly my decision on
whether to agree to such a thing, I have some questions:
Because few people buy image consulting services on impulse, wouldn't that
alone lead to serious tracking problems where commissions are concerned? (No,
we do not require registration nor use cookies, nor do we want to.)

Is it true that we'd have to display the term "Affiliate" on our site? If so,
couldn't that harm our reputation?

How does one find a person who could help install and configure affiliate
software?

Also, it does not make sense to purchase affiliate software just to work with
one website that wouldn't be expected to send much business our way. A number
of small sites or, ideally, a large site, but I've never heard of a high-
traffic site that doesn't just charge CPM or CPC and our service isn't priced
so highly that someone selling ad space would want to make an exception.

Thanks for any replies.
