Depends what you're giving away for free. Co-registrations can be a
good way to go, but sometimes they're massed on a gigantic page and
you don't really get a targeted audience viewing your ad.

If you have an audience in mind, you can often find sites it fits on,
and ask them to link or promote the offer. Since you're giving
something away for free, it can be much simpler to get people to hand
over their contact info.
