Re: Press Release Distribution Services
Three comments from my own experience:
1. I have had stories picked up from newswires and covered in the
national press - but I do agree that it is a rare occurance.
2. The main benefit I get from newswires is in link building and search
engine marketing. For example, I used www.PRweb.com to send out a
carefully worded (i.e. newsworthy and SE optimized) news release at the
start of last week. Today, 9 days later, when I do a Google search on
the exact phrase of my news release headline I get over 600 results -
coming from about 80 different external domains with about 40 of these
providing a direct link to my client's website. Not bad for the enhanced
$80 fee I paid which also includes a listing in Yahoo news.
3. Building media contacts is really the only way to create a successful
media campaign. Media databases are terrific for doing that though they
can be expensive. One way to keep the costs down is to use
www.medialistsonline.com from Bacons which allows you to search their
huge database but you only pay 70 cents per contact you download
(minimum purchase $100).
I find a coordinated campaign with elements of content creation, link
building, SEM and online public relations pays real dividends.
Hope this helps,
