Re: Google ranking dropped

Rob, you are assuming a few things that I believe make the discussion even
more interesting. First, you're assuming that Larry and the others are a
group of greedy, horrible people that are sitting back controlling
algorithms just to see how humans will react. I assure you, as a friend
of Larry, this is not the case. Second - you are also assuming that YOUR
sites are relevant to the millions doing the search. That's where the
arrogance I was speaking about is present in your comments along with the
others. You assume that your site is more relevant, and better.

At any rate, I sincerely doubt we'll ever come to any agreement on this,
but I do think it has been a valuable discussion. It will certainly be
interesting to see what happens over the next year, for sure, as things
continue to change. While I can agree that the backbone of Google's
success has and always will be the ability to deliver useful rankings, I
can also add that everyone seems to believe that THEIR site is the one
that should be ranked, and there are a limited number of spots.
Personally, as mentioned before, I found MORE useful rankings when the
changes happened.

I still find it amusing, and interesting, and never expect anything to
remain constant in the world of the Web. I've been doing this for 14 years
now, and it has yet to stay static - so, let the changes continue and keep
things interesting and compelling.

Good luck to you and your sites!
